How To Clean Spilled Laundry Detergent In Car

Laundry detergent spilled all over my car, scrubbed it with roll of paper towels and water and put the floor mat in the shower. Both helped but didn't completely solve the problem but I am out of ideas. Plz help me.

If you can get your hands on a carpet shampooer with an upholstery attachment, that will take care of it for you. Just keep rinsing and using the shampooed to suck up the water.

Otherwise, a bucket of water rinsing slowly+ a shop vac with air filter removed will do the job. Just rinse a little, vac a little until your carpet is clean (this also works with spilled wall paint as long as it's freshly spilled).

If you don't have this option, i have used a wet/dry vac and a spray bottle with water and a dilute white vinegar solution (to neutralize the soap suds) with some success. Vacuum slowly and spray the area just in front of where you're about to vacuum. With full strength detergent your going to have to go over the area many many times.

If you do can your hands on an upholstery cleaner it might make sense to try with a dilute white vinegar solution.

Once the suds are there how do I get rid of them?

Since detergent is so concentrated, the only effective way to get rid of it is to dilute and rinse it with a TON of water. I would get a huge bucket of water and continuously soak with water and blot with rags. This will probably take a long time to do but eventually the soap will thin out and stop sudsing

Dude I ran the floor mat in the shower with cold water for like ever. It's still there.

I've heard taking it to a car-wash and hanging it up and using the pressure washer wand gets car mats (and door mats) really clean! Good luck!

Just got to the car wash and use the power washer or use yours if you have one.

I don't feel like that's a good idea to do to the interior of my car.

I believe the carpet is dirty and the spot where the detergent was is a clean spot.
